Cutest Cat Nap Ever

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

Waddly.  Nappy.  Happily not giving a shit how I look anymore.

That's how this little woman feels in the final weeks of pregnancy.

Thanks, Mulder, for standing in as the perfect body double.

Thank God For Chocolate Milk

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

The way this little guy feels about his cat food?  That's how I feel these days about chocolate milk.

Whole chocolate milk, mmm…. none of that non-fat business.

My excuse is that I need the calcium – after all, I'll need lots of calcium for my uterus to contract properly during labor.

But, then again, do I really need an excuse?  :)

Poor Forlorn Little Kitty

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

For the baby's sake, we had to kick the cats out of the bedroom.

One of our kitties is taking it badly.  So badly in fact, that he's turned into a little dog.

Take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean.

He's resorted to all kinds of entreaties to make us relent.

First, it was the non-stop crying.

Now, he's gotten it into his head that we can be bribed with shoes.

Every night, we hear a thud in the hallway, and there it is the next morning.  One or more shoes scattered about the place.

He'll sit silently at the door too, with big imploring round eyes.

I wonder how long we'll hold out.

Backyard Memories

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Sigh…missing my school re-union this year.  Don't feel good about air travel at 6 months, you know?

But…it IS the best and prettiest time of the year back in good 'ol Charlottesville, VA.

I console myself by posting this sweet momento taken at what was then my home backyard.

Buffy hiding in the spring daffodils.

I miss these nature shots with the cats.  Made me feel like a tracker of big cats a.k.a Discovery Channel.

Will He Be An Only Child?

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

My little boy is probably going to be an only child.

After all, it took me five years to get pregnant, and I'm not getting any younger.

So, I wonder sometimes, having been raised in a family of five kids, how different it will be for him?

One thing's for sure, he won't have to deal with sibling rivalry and fights, and the countless number of fisticuffs I got into with my tomboy sisters and kid brother growing up.

But on the flip side, he won't know what it's like to hold dear someone who's been with him before he could read or write.

I guess we'll see how this first little guy turns out.  If I get a Sauron-incarnate, all bets are off for another one!
